We’ll be starting out the week with very cold temperatures, along with winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories for parts of Louisiana.IMPACTS:Tangipahoa, Washington, St. James parishes are under Winter Storm Warnings from midnight until 6 p.m. Monday. Accumulation of ice on roadways, especially bridges and overpasses, will be likely with any falling rain during this time.If you have to travel to or within these areas, west toward Baton Rouge, or north toward Jackson or McComb, you will want to check travel conditions before heading out.A Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday for St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, northern Lafourche, northern Terrebonne and St. Tammany parishes, along with Pearl River County, Mississippi. Some ice accumulations will be possible as temperatures near freezing in these areas. HARD FREEZE:Monday night into Tuesday morning will feature the coldest air of the season, and the first freeze for the New Orleans Metro in three years.Temperatures will dip into the teens and low 20s on the Northshore, and low to mid 20s on the Southshore, for an extended period of time. Wrap any exposed pipes, bring in pets and plants, and check on the elderly.REST OF THE WEEK:Sunshine will return Tuesday, but it will be a cold day with highs only in the mid to upper 30s. Another freeze is likely north of the lake Wednesday morning in the mid to upper 20s.Rain returns Wednesday and Thursday, with freezing temperatures again on the Northshore Friday morning. Temperatures rebound into the 60s by next weekend.
