DSM Airport reports 60% decline in January air travel


The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact on air travel in Des Moines.The Des Moines International Airport released new data Thursday that shows January air travel is down by more than 60% over the previous year.The airport reported 89,575 air passengers in January of 2021, down from 227,098 air passengers in January of 2020. Airport officials report cargo shipping through the airport has increased by more than 5% year over year.
